We’re the Gempels – a family of five (plus two Bernedoodles) based right here in Dublin, Ohio. Our family journey began with our three boys, and when they were still in elementary school, we decided to add a little more joy—and chaos—to our home by welcoming our first dog, Rocky. Rocky is a not-so-mini Bernedoodle, a fierce protector of Mom, and a boundless playmate to the boys.

Two years later, we couldn’t resist expanding our furry family, so we brought home Rocky’s sister, Gia (a true mini Bernedoodle) She has the sweetest nature and gets plenty of love and attention from the boys (sometimes, maybe too much!). Bringing dogs into our lives was, without a doubt, the best decision we ever made. They’ve brought our family closer together, created lasting memories, and filled our home with unconditional love. We can’t imagine life without them!

The idea for KAMP Dog Lodge came to life out of our own challenges. When we needed to board Rocky and Gia, we struggled to find availabilty and a place that felt like the right fit. When we did board our dogs we’d tell them they were off to “camp”—because that’s how we wanted it to feel: like a fun, safe getaway for our dogs. We realized there must be other pet parents out there who feel the same way we do—wanting the best for their dogs when they’re away. So, we poured our love for dogs and our empathy for their families into creating KAMP Dog Lodge, a place where both dogs and their parents can feel completely at ease.
